Where the game was won or lost?
We won the game because the opportunities that came in last quarter gave us that extra goal that we needed to break away from a very competitive Melton. I do think that in dry weather we would have won by about 15 goals but unfortunately that was not what we had to play in.

In the last quarter our turnovers were reduced to 5 and our 4 of our recoveries came from our GA, stopping Melton getting the ball past the center third.

Quarters that stood out:
The 3rd quarter stands out due to amount of errors we made. We lost the ball due to 2 steps, an offside and 5 bad passes. When we needed to steady the pass, ball received and footwork we clearly didn’t. in addition to this our GS did not score a single goal this quarter and the GS took all the shots.

Significant goal runs:
Q1: They had the first 3 goal run before we shot our first 2 in a row. They shot a single, goal number 5 and we shot another 2. Melton finished with the last goal.
Q2: Melton shot the first 4 goals of the quarter, giving them a 4 goal lead before we pulled our finger out and shot goal number 8. Melton shot another 2 and then we shot the last 5 for the quarter making the score 13 all at half time.
Q3: The third quarter was a game of singles. We shot a 2 goal run early but neither team broke away 19-16 our way.
Q4: The first 4 goals were shared and then we took off with the next 3. Melton hung in there with the next 3 goals, a couple of singles followed by a 3 goal run for us and we snuck away with the win.

Positives to be taken from the game:

  1. We have some strong players in the wet ( B and Madi)
  2. Defensive pressure was solid especially Kaz recovering 17 balls.
  3. We adapted to the weather in patches.
  4. Considering the conditions we played reasonably well in the wet and wind.

Area for improvement:

  1. Our starts again!
  2. Breaking our opposition’s goaling run.
  3. Adapting to the weather.
  4. Dictating the oppositions passes
