Round 13: Macedon Vs Wodend-Hesket U19s

Macedon 17 Lost 32 Woodend-Hesket

The last time we came up against Woodend it was a rough 24 goal loss. We knew this week would be an adjustment without some key players in our midcourt but everyone stood up playing in positions they don’t normally play. Our first quarter was a slow start with only 3 to Woodend‘s 12. But we knew we would take some time to get used to the changes.

We started building in the second quarter. We were really strong defensively but struggled to convert any of our recoveries to goals. As a result the margin opened up.

We made a change with Billie into goals and although it took some adjusting we were able to improve our accuracy and movement in the circle. We needed to quickly release into the front space and use goaler to goaler feeds to get the ball closer to post.

We finished off the game with several turnovers. We began making the same errors in consecutive plays which allowed Woodend to extend the margin. It was a much better performance than our last game especially considering we were undermanned but we had the capacity to win that game with better decision making and accuracy.
