Round 8: Macedon V Rockbank - A Grade

Unpacking the game:
We had a great start with 23 goals and let it slip in the 3rd quarter. Defence was strong from all over the court, particularly in the last quarter where Rockbank struggled to get the ball out of their defence. The umpires contributed to the amount of turnovers and attempts at goals that we had, particularly in the last half but our circle defenders made sure that the ball was sent back down to the attack end for another go at it. An impressive game from Shanae playing her first game in A grade.

Targets

We almost hit all our targets- Well done girls!

Positives to be taken from the game:

1. Strong start.
2. Great defensive pressure with every player recovering at least 1 ball.
3. Volume was great.
4. 34 recoveries from Janelle and Shanae
5. We had quite a few 4 goal runs and only gave Rockbank one 2 goal runs.

Area for improvement:

1. We took our foot off the pedal in our attacking end in the second half.
2. 16 bad passes in the second half verses 7 in the first half.
3. Adjusting to the umpire up one end. Clearly the stats show that up one end we were eaten alive with penalties.
