Macedon 31 WON 23 Western Rams
Final game of the season. Macedon had a lot to prove as we are 2nd on the ladder and Western Rams being top of the ladder and we had not beaten them all season.
Macedon had a solid opening to the first quarter then passing in attack went astray and goal misses kept escaping. Our defenders got plenty of the ball to enable us to finish 2 goals up.
Our second quarter was rusty and a handful of fundamental turnovers kept us goal for goal. Our circle defenders kept the Rams attack honest and our goalers were 100% effective to hold the 2 goal lead.
A few personnel changes enabled us to settle the court and create cleaner handling of the ball. Our goalers were very effective in the third quarter with just the 5 bad passes overall. Macedon’s defensive recoveries were still down, but with a strong finish and a 6 goal run, we were able to finish the third quarter up by six.
Players had settled and were very tidy in the Final Quarter. Goalers let a few misses escape and defensive recoveries were low but enough to help to close out a hard working 8 goal win.
This was a really strong team effort right across the team. A great game to take into finals.
