Macedon (22) V Lancefield (34)

Although it was another disappointing loss for us this week, there were some improvements across the board. We had more defensive recoveries and half the amount of turnovers than we did against Woodend. However, we had five held balls. This error came from not releasing the ball to our first option.
In the first two quarters, we started relatively strong with the majority of ball and calm possession netball. Demi and Kenzi utilised triangles and repositioning around the circle edge to deliver safe balls and open up our goalers’ space. We needed Matilda to be more of a presence in attack. As Beth led out of the circle for first phase we needed her driving into the circle strong for the second phase ball. As we started to do this we were able to transition the ball into our goalers with ease.
However, consistent with our other games our major downfall for us was goaling inaccuracy. Which was highlighted in our second quarter, we shot at 59% for the game and only got one rebound. While Lancefield shot at 85% and rebounded 4 of these shots giving them a 95% shooting efficiency overall. Defensively we got two of these rebounds, not enough for us to win back possession, which made the dictating and defensive pressure outside of the circle all the more important. Overall we missed 15 goals and Lancefield rebounded 14 of them. This gave them the winning margin of 12.
A major focus going forward is goaling accuracy and rebounding by both goalers and defenders.
Best on court goes to Kenz Brennan
