Where the game was won or lost?
We had an outstanding last quarter with 100% goaling and 5 turnovers through the mid court. The 17 goals scored in this quarter came from valuing our centre passes and recovering 7 balls, deflecting 6 balls and rebounding 2 of the 4 missed shots. A great team effort to finish the game.

Quarters that stood out:
The 4th quarter stands out for all those above reasons.
The first quarter stands out because it wasn’t a great start. The 6 turnovers were all bad passes from the GK, C and WA, each throwing 2 away. This gave Woodend a chance to have a look in. Defensively our footwork was well timed forcing Woodend to throw away 6 balls and land in our steady hands.

Significant goal runs:
Q1: We shot the first 3 goals before Woodend shot their first goal. In the middle of the quarter we shot another 3 and finished the quarter with the last 4.
Q2: Woodend shot the first goal before we shot 3 in a row and then another 3. For the remainder of the quarter it pretty much went goal for goal.
Q3: We shot 2 and then they shot 2. We later shot 4 in a row and then another 3. We shot 7 goals to their 1 in the middle of the 3rd quarter.
Q4: Although Woodend shot the first goal for the quarter that’s pretty much all they did. We put 3 goals in the board, then 5 and then 3 more and another 3.

Positives to be taken from the game:

  1. We started well with the first 3 goals
  2. When we forced a break from Woodend we capitalized on it.
  3. We finished strong.
  4. We were quite clean defensively and didn’t attract too much whistle.
  5. Amy shot extremely well in the last quarter shooting 13 from 13.

Area for improvement:

  1. Taking the feet through and turning the tips into intercepts/ recoveries.
  2. Goaling accuracy.
  3. Defensive rebounding position.
