Unpacking the game:
We smashed them all over the court. Defence was outstanding and in most cases we brought the ball down court well. We occasionally had brain fades and the umpire in the last quarter assisted with some of Woodend’s recoveries but overall it was an impressive game.

We were successful in keeping our turnovers down to 21 (I deducted Cailtyn’s 2 steps). Our recoveries were high with gains being the dominant recovery until the intercepts crept in, in the last quarter. We protected the defensive rebound as best as we could, considering Tara’s height. Goaling accuracy was great up until the second half where fatigue set in and the umpires started to let Woodend creep in on our shots. Statistically I think we were quite successful.
Positives to be taken from the game:
- We reached 65 goals, with a 40 goal deficit.
- We got off to a good start, compared to other weeks.
- Every player on court recovered a ball.
- We had an 8 goal run in the second half.
- We kept Woodend to just 8 goals for the second half.
Area for improvement:
- Adjusting to the umpires (again but for different reasons)
- Finishing off our shooting in the second half of the game.
- Protecting rebounds in both attack and defence.
